Gypsophila paniculata is a cultivated ornamental flower native from Eastern Europe. There are more than fifty species of Gypsophila found in Europe, Asia and the Eastern Mediterranean. Commonly known as “baby's breath” or “white soaproot“, gypsophila is used as soap in the Mediterranean Basin over the course of the centuries. It is also used as a diuretic, as an anti-rheumatic agent and as an expectorant. This plant has a long history of use as mild cleaning agents.
